Applications are now open for this Trade Mission to Uruguay, leaving London on Saturday 12 January 2019 for Punta del Este, where delegates will attend the PuntaTech Summit conference opening sessions, and ending in Montevideo on Friday 18 January 2019.
Often overlooked for international expansion, Uruguay has in recent years significantly developed its business philosophy to exploit its ideal positioning as a hub for businesses to service the entire Latin American market. Several major multinationals have already established Shared Service Centres, Manufacturing and Distribution bases, and there are excellent opportunities for both large and small companies.
This Mission offers UK businesses interested in starting or expanding business in Latin America an
ideal opportunity to see all that Uruguay has to offer at first hand and meet key players, prospective
business partners and both Uruguayan and international business leaders.
Preparation and planning is critical to success. Advance meetings in London (also available via webcast) in October and November will prepare delegates for the Mission. The organisers will also have individual discussions with each participant to ensure that their specific interests will be covered, and individual meetings arranged as appropriate during the Mission week.
By attending, you’ll learn about company creation, legal, administrative and employment matters,
and how market opportunities across Latin America can be addressed from a base in Uruguay. You
will also be able to explore tax benefits and other incentives, and the skills and resources of the local
workforce. You will get the opportunity to meet important key players in Uruguay and its
infrastructure for your business.
The PuntaTech event at the start of the week will enable you to meet professionals from across South America and understand the local skills available to develop and support the technology solutions that your business relies on.

Arrive in Punta del Este, official briefing for delegates and VIP Asado.
Monday 14 January
Morning: Uruguay introduction with presentations by UruguayXXI, multinationals with success stories in UY, consultancy companies, and an international keynote speaker.
Evening: PuntaTech Meetup – Plenary Conference
Tuesday 15 January
Morning: Transfer to Montevideo
Afternoon: Visit to World Trade Centre - with presentations by Uruguay XXI, the British-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and the WTC Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and a visit to a company based there.
Evening: Evening: Reception at the WTC.
Wednesday 16 January
Morning: Visits to Parque de las Ciencias (Science Park) and Zonamerica FTZs, including visiting relevant sector companies based there. Lunch at Zonamerica.
Afternoon: Tailor-made programme specific to delegate interests (B2B in Uruguay XXI).
Evening: Reception and networking, featuring Uruguayan Trade Minister, British Ambassador, FTZ executives, local Chamber members and local DIT staff.
Thursday 17 January
Morning: Tailor-made programme (e.g. visits to Port/Airport/LATU/Institute Pasteur, etc/B2Bs depending on the sectors) and closing lunch.
Friday 18 January
Morning: Scope for additional meetings before afternoon flight back to London, or transfer to Punta del Este (South America’s premier resort) for the weekend.
